PRAD
Group conducted a study to determine alternatives for clean rooms and
an existing chiller plant at Launch Complex 17, Cape Canaveral Air Force
Station, FL. The purpose of the study was to establish the best air
conditioning system to provide temperature and humidity control for
the clean rooms surrounding the electronic portion of these missiles.
The clean rooms were designed for the assembly of the global positioning
satellites. Critical phases of the actual satellite assembly were required
to be virtually dust free and high efficiency particulate air filters
maintain the cleanrooms to class 100K. The cleanrooms area was also
pressurized to prevent intrusion of particular contaminants in the outside
ambient air. The scope of study covered all factors associated with
the clean room upgrade and the chiller plant replacement.
